The new Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Act is now law and enforceable from the 28th June. This could affect anyone wishing to travel and stop overnight. If you are travelling to a horse fair, family gathering, festival, or if you are travelling due to not having a permanent home base, you could find yourself in an enforcement situation. This is across England and Wales. Many police forces have stated they will do everything they can to support travelling communities rather than enforce the new laws, but knowing what the new laws are also means people can be better prepared when travelling.
