The last few months here at Gypsies and Travellers Wales has been very different from the norm. Since the country was put into lockdown we have had to change how we work and how we support our clients. After following Government guidance we closed our offices and began working remotely, staff were set up to be able to answer calls from home and access our network and emails. Supporting our staff is at the core of what we do at Gypsies and Travellers Wales. All our staff wanted to ensure the community were supported during the Covid-19 pandemic and while we were unable to see our clients face to face we were able to make welfare calls to check on families and vulnerable households. Gypsies and Travellers Wales were awarded funding from Moondance and Wales Coronavirus Resilience Fund where we able to provide food parcels for households every Wednesday (find out more about out Covid-19 food parcel service here)

Covid-19 has been a very difficult and anxious time for many people, we have been proactive in supporting our clients by ensuring we have regular updates from Welsh Assembly and lots of other organisations who we work with.

Our team meetings have been a bit different, all our staff meet online every Tuesday via Microsoft Teams to discuss how we can support our clients and receive updates. Whilst working from home and supporting our clients has had its challenges, the safety of our clients and staff is paramount.

Gypsies and Travellers Wales will continue to follow Government guidelines and keep our staff and clients safe. We will continue to update our clients of any changes to our service.
