We are looking for an Engagement Officer for our WEST project!
Salary: £23,804 (pro-rata)
Hours: 22.5hrs until December 2027
Location: Cardiff
PURPOSE OF POST To support Gypsies and Travellers to gain the skills, qualifications and confidence needed to enter employment, further learning and generally to feel more confident to self-advocate and engage with community activities. To encourage and facilitate involvement by Gypsies and Travellers in expressing and/or meeting their own needs through support and enabling work practices. Work closely with other organisations to improve understanding of Gypsy and Traveller needs and culture and maximise the chances and accessibility of employment, education, training and volunteering opportunities.
MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Providing 1-2-1 goal-focused support sessions; enabling a caseload of clients to move into suitable and sustainable education, training, and employment. Working with clients to identify barriers, strengths, and goals, with a focus on employability.
2. Enabling a smooth transition for clients moving into employment, including in-work support, working with colleagues to ensure in-work benefits are maximised.
3. Respond to Gypsies and Travellers’ needs consistent with the aims and values of Gypsies and Travellers Wales through a combination of group sessions, workshops and 1-2-1 sessions.
4. Maintain internal records and contribute to reports.
5. Deliver training to professionals when requested to encourage greater understanding of working with Gypsies and Travellers
6. Develop effective relationships with relevant organisations – to improve their awareness of the needs and culture of Gypsies and Travellers and accessibility to their services
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintain a working knowledge of current information, policies and legislation that could affect Gypsies and Travellers
2. Create appropriate opportunities to enable Gypsies and Travellers’ views to inform policy development.
3. Provide reports to and meet regularly with manager for supervision and annual appraisal.
4. Contribute to strategy and policy planning for the organisation, and effective work delivery, through staff team meetings and other working groups.
5. Prepare regular reports for and attend the Trustees as required.
6. Other reasonable duties as may be necessary. The list of duties and responsibilities is not an exhaustive one and may be varied from time to time by the Director.
